Save The Date: Safer Internet Day 2016

SID-16-WEBWISE
The date is set for Safer Internet Day 2016; the annual event will be celebrated around the world on Tuesday, 9th February. The aim of Safer Internet Day is to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially among children and young people across the world.
2016 will be the 13th edition of the event and the call to action for next year is  “Play your part for a better internet”.
Last year, 100 countries worldwide, including all 28 countries of the European Union, celebrated Safer Internet Day (SID).

Safer Internet Day 2015

Safer Internet Day 2015 was marked by nearly 34,000 young people, who organised and participated in 219 different Safer Internet Day events across Ireland.
The theme for the 2015 edition was “Let’s create a better internet together” and hundreds of schools and youth groups rose to that challenge, by celebrating the day with their own grassroots Safer Internet Day campaigns.
Here’s just one of the highlights from this year’s Safer Internet Day campaign – an anti-cyber bullying rap created by the GMC Youth Crew. The very catchy I Like It rap proved very popular with over 125,000 views, 2300 likes and 930 shares since going live in February.
