- Extreme weather events such as floods, droughts and tropical storms will become more frequent and dangerous.
- Sea level could rise by 18 to 59cm , flooding, the low-lying island states inhabited by millions of people.
- Large areas of rainforest could be lost due to significant reduction in rainfall.
- Salt from rising sea levels may contaminate freshwater supplies. Up to three biliion more people could suffer increated water storages by 2008.
- Geographical migration can result in the increase of diseases such as malaria and dengue fever.
- Plant and animal species which unable to adapt quickly will be threathened by extinction.
